SUMMARY
Mary Mylrea als Kelly, widow of John Mylrea snr cooper in Castletown, borrowed 4/16/10 against her dwelling house
[Ref: SSM May 1748 #119]
NOTES
- John snr was the oldest son of Thomas Mylrea & Jony Kinley, born in 1713 in Malew. he had a younger brother named John jnr
- Even though he was the oldest son in the family, the land his father had bought in 1722 did not come his way by inheritance. Instead, it seemed to have gone to youngest brother, Charles
- John Mylrea snr and Mary Kelly married 1737. There is no record of their marriage
- Children: John (1738), Mary (1740), Thomas (1743), William (1745-1747)
- John snr died in 1746; Mary remarried in 1747 to a William Martin
- Castletown List of Householders c1757 shows three boys and two girls in family so Mary had had two children since the death of her first husband
- There is much about the Malew Mylreas of the 1600s and early 1700s that does not hang together so extreme caution must be exercised
