Know all men by these presents that Thomas Mylroi of Laxey in the parish of Lonan, boot and shoe maker, doth hereby own and acknowledge himself to stand justly and truly endebted unto John Mylroie of Laxey Glen, builder, in the principal sum of one hundred and ten pounds to the payment whereof unto the said John Mylroi with lawful interest thereof payable annually reducible nevertheless to five pounds per centum if paid punctually or within one month after the same becomes due and all costs and charges attending these presents the said Thomas Mylroi doth hereby bind and oblige himself, his heirs, executors and administrators firmly by these presents and for the further security of the said John Mylroi in the premises, his executors, administrators and assigns in the payment of the said principal sum of one hundred and ten pounds with interest, costs and charges aforesaid Know ye that the said Thomas Mylroi and Ann his wife have given, granted, transferred and passed over and by these presents do give, grant, transfer and pass over in security unto the said John Mylroi, his executors, administrators and assigns all and singular a certain dwelling house and premises situate on the main road to Laxey at present in the occupation of William Robertson as a postal telegraph office and to which premises the said Thomas Mylroi became entitled by Deed of Sale with John Stephen, Coroner of Garff Sheading, only recorded to have and to hold the said dwelling house and premises with all ways, waters, watercourses, easements, liberties, rights, members privileges and appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the said John Mylroi, his heirs, executors and assigns until the said principal sum of one hundred and ten pounds be fully paid off and discharged and satisfied it is hereby agreed upon between the parties that it shall be in the power of the said John Mylroi, his executors, administrators and assigns forthwith to insure or cause to be insured from damage or loss by fire the whole or any part of the said dwelling house and premises for any sum not exceeding one hundred and twenty pounds and to recover the annual premiums along with the annual interest to become due under this security and it is further agreed upon that in case the said Thomas Mylroi, his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns shall be desirous to pay off or the said John Mylroi, his executors, administrators or assigns to call in the amount of this security the party so intending shall give to the other party six months previous notice in writing of such his or their intention and the said Thomas Mylroi and the said Ann Mylroi his wife for themselves, their heirs, executors, administrators and assigns doth hereby covenant, engage and agree to and with the said John Mylroi, his executors, administrators and assigns that they have good right, full power and lawful authority to charge and encumber the dwelling house and premises aforesaid in manner aforesaid and that he and they shall and will warrant, maintain, uphold and defend the same unto the said John Mylroi, his executors, administrators and assigns from and against any claim, challenge, and demand of all and every person and persons whomsoever and for the true and faithful performance hereof the said Thomas Mylroi and Ann Mylroi his wife do bind and oblige themselves, their heirs, executors, administrators and assigns firmly by these presents. At Douglas the 16th day of February 1874 John A. Mylrea one of the subscribing witnesses to the execution of the foregoing Deed who is personally known to me appeared and made oath on the Holy Evangelist that Thomas Mylroi one of the executing parties duly signed his same and Ann Mylroi the other executing party thereto duly executed by said Deed by affixing her cross mark thereto in his presence and in the presence of Alfred A. Braid the other witness. Before me Samuel Harris, High Bailiff of Douglas Registry Office 16th February 1874 I certify that the foregoing Deed was this day at the hour of two o’clock afternoon received by me at this Office for the purpose of being registered and recorded according to law and that the same is duly registered and recorded in the Acquisition Book 8 page 28 No 360. ......... of principal, interest, costs and charges now due and owing in respect of a certain Deed of Bond and Security bearing date the 18th day of February 1874 and passed by Thomas Mylroi and his wife to the said John Mylroi for the principal sum of one hundred and ten pounds payable with interest, costs and charges and secured and made chargeable upon all and singular a certain dwelling house and premises situate on the main road to Laxey then in the occupation of Thomas Robertson as a postal telegraph office to which premises the said Thomas Mylroi became entitled by Deed of Sale from John Stephen, Coroner of Garff Sheading and the said Benjamin Mylroi hereby directs the said Deed of Bond and Security to be and stand cancelled on record. - LAXEY
- These two men were cousins, Thomas the son of James Mylroi jnr of Ballacosney; John the son of Daniel Mylroi. Benjamin Mylroi was John's younger son
- Thomas b1829, was a boot and shoe maker in the village of Laxey, married Ann Kelly in 1854, and had four children: Eleanor (1854), Robert James (1857), William (1858) & Ann Jane (1861). His only surviving son William was also a boot maker who died in 1905 after which his wife too their two small children back to England
- John b1830 was a builder inn Laxey Glen, married Sarah Ball in the UK, and had five children: Thomas (1856), Sarah (1863), John James (1865), Benjamin (1869) & George (1872). Thomas & Benjamin both became builders
- Thomas
- John spent some time in the UK where he married Sarah Ball, and had the first three of his children. John's father Daniel was an astute businessman, from the extent of his legacies after he died. John had similar skills
