The humble petition of John Mylroi of Ballaraugh in the parish of Lonan, engineer

Showeth

That petitioner’s mother Ann Mylroi of Ballaraugh aforesaid departed this life on the 5th day of September 1889, intestate, leaving her husband John Mylroi, petitioner’s father, her survivor

That the said Ann Mylroi had at the time of her decease a sum of £140 deposited in her own name with Dumbell’s Banking Company Limited

That the said John Mylroi husband of the said Ann Mylroi departed this life on or about the 20th day of February 1892 intestate without having reduced the said sum of £140.00 into his possession

That it is necessary that the administration of the estate of the said Ann Mylroi should be granted to some fit and proper person and petitioner is desirous that such administration should be granted to him

Wherefore petitioner prays a hearing hereof and that administration of the estate of the said Ann Mylroi deceased should be granted to him and petitioner will pray etc etc

Ordered that this petition do come on to be heard before me at a Court to be holden at Ramsey on Monday the 4th day of April 1892 whereof all proper parties and persons are to have due notice. Given this 4 day of April 1892. John Frederick Gill

Upon hearing this petition in presence of the parties or their advocates and it being proved that Ann Mylroi (the late wife of John Mylroi) late of Ballaraugh in the parish of Lonan, deceased, on or about the 5th day of September 1889 departed this life and intestate

This Court hath decreed John Mylroi of Ballaraugh aforesaid, engineer, a son of the deceased, administrator of all and singular the personal estate and effects of the deceased and accordingly he is sworn well and truly to administer the estate and effects of the said deceased by paying her just debts and funeral expenses so far forth as the said estate and effects will extend and the law bind him and distributing the residue according to law and to return to the proper Registry a full, true and perfect inventory of all and singular the said estate and effects with an accurate account of his administration thereof when thereunto lawfully required.   1. Ballaraugh
  2. Ann Mylroi als Quilleash was the wife of John Mylroi, a miner. They married in 1844 and had two sons, William 1845-1871, and John jnr 1846-1908
  3. Son John started out as a miner, like his father, but over the years rose up the ranks to become an engineer
  4. He married Maria Killip in Liverpool in 1903 when he was 57
  5. There were no children of the marriage which meant that with John's death, this branch of the Mylroi clan came to an end
