NOTES

  1. Fildraw
  2. Thomas & John Mylrea were father and son, and husbands of Margaret Gellin and Elizabeth Shimmin
  3. This sale took place a month before Margaret Gellin died (November)
  4. The parents of Thomas McYlrea were almost certainly Thomas Mylrea & Issabel (family name unknown). Thus, his siblings would have been John (who married Cathrin Norris), Martin (who married Elizabeth Bridson) & Issabel
  5. Thomas Mylrea and Margaret als Gellin married 1654, and had as many as 10 children: John (1658), John (1659), Thomas (1662), Nicho (1665-1699), Robert (1668-1669), Robert (1670), Jony (1672), Elizabeth (1776), Margaret (16??), Catherine (16??), of whom six were alive when Margaret died in 1702
  6. John was their eldest son and heir to the Mylrea estate, Fildraw
  7. He married Elizabeth Shimmin 1686; six children Elizabeth 1685, Charles 1687, Thomas 1689, Ann 1694, Cath 1697, Isable 1701
  8. It was a troubled legacy over the generations, eventually passing out of Mylrea hands in the late 1700s
  9. There is much about the Malew Mylreas of the 1600s and early 1700s that does not hang together so extreme caution must be exercised
