Purchase - 1804 (Douglas)
Know all men by these presents that I Daniel Kelly of the town of Douglas with the consent and approbration of Margaret Kelly als Callister my wife, testified by her signing these presents, diverse good causes and consideration me hereunto moving but chiefly and more especially for the consideration sum of one hundred pounds British to be paid and satisfied unto me at, by and from the hands of Edward Mylrea of the parish of KK Conchan before the attestation hereof
Have therefore given, granted, bargained, alienated, passed over and sold and by these presents do give, grant, bargain, alienate, pass over and forever absolutely sell all the right, title and interest that I have in and unto a certain new dwelling house lately built by me, together with the back yard thereunto adjoining and belonging, and being the same in breadth as said house is in front and back as far as the bulwark adjoining the sea shore, the said premises being situate at the sand side of the town of Douglas and adjoining the rent of Christopher Karren on the south, the public street on the west, the said Daniel Kelly's rent on the north, and the seashore on the east, with such annual Lord's Rent as the Setting Quest of KK Conchan shall settle thereon
To have and to hold to him the said Edward Mylrea, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns with all ways, waters, watercourses, easements, liberties and advantages to said sold premises belonging or in any wise appertaining, taking said possession from the 12th day of May next ensuing the date hereof, he the said Edward Mylrea yielding and paying the annual Lord's Rent together with all other boons, suits and services as shall be annually incumbent on the said premises
And I the said Daniel Kelly and Margaret Kelly my wife do hereby bind and oblige ourselves, our heirs, executors, administrators and assigns that we are in full power and legal right to sell said premises, and to uphold, awarrant, defend and keep the said Edward Mylrea, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns in the peaceable and quiet possession of the same against the claim, challenge or demand of any person or persons whatever to the same
For the true and faithful performance of which, we the said Daniel Kelly and Margaret my wife do hereby bind and oblige ourselves, our heirs, executors, administrators and assigns in and under the penalty of two hundred pounds British to be levied and paid according to law

Daniel Kelly and Margaret Kelly the executing parties to the beforewritten Deed of Sale acknowledged the same to be their proper act and deed, and to be paid the consideration money therein mentioned. Before me James Moore

- Edward Mylrea purchased a house along the seashore in Douglas. He was approaching 40 years of age
- Oldest son of Edward Mylrea snr & Dorothy Fargher als Kewley, baptised 1767, Lonan so over 70 when he died
- Married Margaret Christian 1792 in Onchan
- Sea captain - vessels Friends, Ally & Nancy, Three Sisters - carrying coal between Douglas & Whitehaven
- Children: Edward (1796), Margaret (1800), Elinor (1803), Jane (1805), Thomas (1810)
- Son Edward married Elinor Curphey 1822, was a shoemaker. They went to live in Liverpool
- Daughter Margaret married James Wilson 1834
- Daughter Elinor married Richard Curphey, a tailor, and they too went to live in Liverpool
- Daughter Jane married William Moore 1838
- Youngest son Thomas, b1810, only lived a few days
- Edward, the grandson who inherited the Mylrea family estate in Castle Street, Douglas (ie this house), was killed in an accident in 1840 in Liverpool (Mona's Herald, 17/3/1840)
- By 1861, George Palmer and his wife owned 100% of the Castle Street dwelling
- One half share of the property had been inherited by Palmer's wife on the death of her brother in 1840
- George Palmer purchased the other half share of the Castle St dwelling in 1856 from his father in law, Edward Mylrea, who had inherited that share from his mother in 1849
- The house cost £100 in 1804, and was sold by Palmer for £180 in £1861
- The seafaring tradition can be found in both his grandsons, as well as the husbands of his daughters, grand daughters. The name Edward also perpetuated through the generations
- Edward & Margaret were Wesleyan Methodists which might account for the fact that both lack burial registrations

- LV October 1861 outlines the transition of the family's holdings after the death of Edward snr and his grandson - 1849, 1856, 1861
- This Mylrea family had a long history in Douglas, stretching back to the original family of Thomas Mylrea and Margaret Cowin. Edward (1) b 1743 became a wheelright in Lonan, Edward (2) b1767 was a sea captain, Edward (3) b 1796 was a shoemaker, and Edward (4) was working on a construction site when he died in his teens
- In 1823, a suit was brought against Edward Mylrea (and Luke Lane) by a prisoner at Castle Rushen. Not background information is available, but the gist of the Chancery Petition was the Mylrea and Lane were to pay an allowance to Thomas Davies who had been incarcerated because Mylrea and Lane had caused Davies to be arrested
